In this post I'm gonna talk about some idioms, that, I hope, are new for you.
There we go:

Have nots

People without wealth or power are the have-nots.
Pessoas sem dinheiro ou poder.

"Government should help the have-nots, it's a shame it doesn't!"

Stir the pot
To stir the pot is to agitate a situation to cause a reaction or trouble.
Forçar uma situação para causar uma reação ou problema.
"This people think they can screw me and leave unpunished...I'm gonna stir the pot and they'll see!"

Boil to the surface

If a problem or issue boils to the surface, it emerges at a particular time and needs to be discussed or resolved.
Emergir um problema para ser discutido.

"I don't wanna be here when this shit boils to the surface! It's definitely gonna stir the pot around here!"

Tell it to the marines

Tell it to the marines: People use this expression when they don't believe someone.
Expressão usada quando você não acredita em alguém.
"Kadafi is gonna leave the power?!? Tell it to the marines!"

Fencepost

Someone's who's as dumb as a post is very stupid, like a fencepost.
Alguém burro como uma porta.
"Luciana Gimenez is such a fencepost!"

Dry as dust

Very dry. Often used metaphorically: a boring, literal person or an unexciting speech.
Uma pessoa ou discurso chato.

"Jabour is very intelligent, but he's speeches are dry as dust."

Bar fly
A bar fly is a person who spends a lot of time drinking in different bars and pubs.
Uma pessoa que passa muito tempo indo de bar em bar.
"This teacher is terrible, he's a fucking bar fly."

Small beer

If something is small beer, it's unimportant.
Uma coisa que não é muito importante.
"Don't worry with this test, it's small beer."

Wet somebody's whistle

If you are thirsty and have an alcoholic drink, you wet your whistle.
Molhar o bico.

"Wife: What's this smell? Have you drunk?

 Husband: No dear, I just passed by the pub to wet my whistle!"
